**************Spoilers*********************One of Kristan's funniest and most moving. The scene with the bear and the napping old horse was a scream. As usual her dialogue is sharp and witty, despite the irritating habit of making up a signature expletive for her heroines (Oh Crotch!). The encounter with her mother brought tears to my eyes as did the scene with her stepmother, Beverlee.***re-read 1/29/2017***I believe this is her best bookor at least top 3. It has some of the most comedic scenes and wittiest, snappiest dialogue. It is insightful and one of the most moving. The relationship between the two protagonists, in fact, all of the relationships, were very well developed. You could see both of their sides, though I, at least, felt that our heroine was more justified and Nick was more at fault in their intitial break-up. I like that he stepped up at last and shouldered his share of the blame. I just wish <spoiler>Harper had not run after him like she did. I would have liked it better if he had not got on the ferry and was heading back to her. It would have been more right.</spoiler> My heart was in my mouth at her meeting with Linda and when she got the letter. And I was sobbing during her final scene with Beverlee. Her reconciliation with her Dad was so well done. Not only one of Kristan's best so far (top 3) but one of the best I have read of this sort ever.

I loved Harper's no-nonsense attitude. Even though her advice was often seen as cold and heartless, Harper always gave it with the best of intentions. Harper's career as a divorce lawyer may have added fuel to her cynical fire, but not without good reason and numerous examples of how things could go horribly wrong.
Once again Kristan Higgins has delivered a story that had me laughing and crying, cringing and sighing. This is story of Harper and Nick and how they were moved to forgiveness and found a way to be together despite past failures.
Another favorite. I love second chances and boy did Harper and Nick need it. Both had gone wrong with their first marriage--typical lack of communication and assuming things, but when Harper is stranded in Montana with Nick and they take a road trip together, things begin to fall in place.
I love how not everything was resolved and some things were kept unhappy, so that it was realistic, but at the end, both Harper and Nick learned that despite other significant people failing them, that they both had to open up and trust the one who loved them and take risks.
Even though Harper was a hard heroine to like, being so cynical and meddling in other people's business, I understood why she would have given up the way she did. Nick packing the way he did reminded her of her mother packing and leaving. He had also been neglecting her and dictating to her what he wanted with life. Everything was his agenda, his plans, he was more important than her. He was controlling and even near the end, he went right ahead and dictated what she should do to fit into his life. I'm glad he finally realized he held some fault for the first marriage ending, but the resolution happened too quickly and I didn't feel Harper got reassurance that he wouldn't be neglecting her in favor of being a workaholic. However I did enjoy the story and love how Ms. Higgins draws out the misunderstandings, magnifying them and milking the failure to communicate as long as possible. It does seem that her heroines are always the ones making that last ditch effort. In this story, I felt Nick should have tried harder.
Well this book is going to go down in history as one of my all time favorites. It's one of those book for me, that just stuck with me. This is not the first Kristan Higgins books I have ever read, the first was Just One of the Guys, and while I absolutely adore that book, this one is the one that cemented Kristan Higgins place on my list of favorite authors.
I absolutely love Higgins writing style, she breathes real life into the characters with her words, and they read so authentic. It's so much easier to identify with a character when you actually believe that they could be real people. I love that all of her characters have quirks and flaws. I also really love that Higgins books are longer than a lot of the romances I read these days. Part of the reason why I love this about her books is because they read more like a slow burn then anything else, there is so much build up within the books, so much character development, that when you get to the payoff at the end it's just all the more sweeter. I can't even put into words how much I appreciate that.
So part of the reason why I really adore this book is because it is a second chance book, two exes, and not just exes, but two people who married and divorce (in my opinion divorce is way more painful then a breakup) who end up at a wedding, where their siblings are getting hitched. When the book starts and everything gets laid out for Harper, I really felt bad for her. Talk about an awkward situation. To make matters worse her current boyfriend is kind of well, lets go with immature (read it, I promise you will get what I mean). I loved that Harper was fiercely independent, I loved that she was reliable to her family and a good daughter and sister. I loved that one of her closest friends is a priest (who is seriously an awesome character in this book). I also loved that she's vulnerable and ended up being a divorce attorney (it really makes things more interesting).
Nick, as the ex, is really awesome too. He is nice and polite to Harper's man. He's there to rescue her when she gets into trouble (think bears). There is so much history between the two of them, and a lot of hurt. And with most relationships, plenty of blame to go around. He's just such a good guy. He's the kind of guy who is in it for the long haul. These two didn't keep in touch after the divorce, so a lot of this book is really filling in the gaps of this years long absence from each others lives, all while reconnecting.
I could probably go on and on about this book forever, and I have to mention that the secondary characters/plot lines are seriously great. At the end of the day, this book is always going to be a favorite for me, and I really would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
