As a writer myself, there is nothing I hate more than writing a less than 4 star review, as I appreciate the sweat that goes into writing a book. I vacillated for a while whether to write this one.Always you started out sufficiently ok. Girl realizing she had the hots for her super hot best friend, who just happens to be the hottest boy in school. Then there is the joy of the discovery that he reciprocates said feelings. And there the book should have ended, because after that it was just a series of unrealistic and ridiculous events. A stalker who cannot stay arrested, the best luck ever in Las Vegas, the never ending declaration of undying love, and so much more eye rolling events that at one point I felt my eyes would get stuck in the top of my head. Oddly enough, the thing that annoyed me the most is that no one in this book "said", "declared", "exclaimed" or at worst "opined", but constantly and incessantly "chirped". I thought if I read the word "chirped" one more time, I would fling my kindle across the room. As Amazon prime day has already passed, I didn't want to risk it, so I just quit reading. Honestly couldn't bear it anymore, and if the deadline hadn't passed I would have returned for a refund.
The extremely generous two stars is because I really felt bad giving a one star in this case. I remain agog and aghast that this author has so many books and so many good reviews. Maybe the other books are better, but I really don't think I am willing to risk anymore time or money. And I am terrified that I may come across the word "chirp" again, and scratch my own eyes out.

Always You The Best Friend Series Book 1 eBook Kirsty Moseley Reviews
The typos were in the strangest places. Often in the first sentence of a new section. The vocabulary was horrendous. I am all for teaching people new words, but “whist” coming from a seventeen year old just seemed strange. This happened a lot- there was one point where Riley was tired after a long day of “lessons.” She was referring to high school here! The book seemed as though it was written by an old person. And the behavior of Riley was so unbelievable. Not a fan. Skip it.
I'm sorry, I try to be nice about this sort of thing because I know the author worked so hard on it, but this book was insufferable for anyone who has matured above high school age. Not only is it filled with a revolting relationship with a man 4 years her senior who calls her Jailbait, physically and emotionally abusive behavior that goes unchecked, but it fails to show the main character as anything more than boy crazy. She holds no interesting plot lines herself. When a love interest is busy, she simply waits. No hobbies, one friend whom she only discusses her love interests with, no interests, nothing. I kept holding out hope that at some point this book would get to reality, but instead her mother finds out that she is dating this boy, and encourages her to lie to her father and go away for a weekend in a hotel unsupervised anyways. Perhaps most frustrating is that Riley never shows any strength, few opinions of her own. She's constantly waiting for a man to save her, and the character and the reader deserve better than that. I typically love these types of stories, but a main character needs a backbone, instead of constantly cowering waiting for a man. There are only a couple books in my life that I have quit on mid-story. No matter how awful the book I persevere. However, I had to stop on this one. If you are over the age of 16 or 17, you probably won't be able to stand this book. Although, if you have the faintest idea that women are far more interesting than just what men they're interested in, you will also probably not be able to stand this book.
I don't even know where to begin. I wish I hadn't read it. I expected a cute romcom about a girl realizing she loved her best friend, but that was not this book. Not even close. (Spoilers below)
*
(Seriously, I'm not kidding. Spoilers.)
*
The first third of the book I just felt like she was too stupid, not believing he could love her even though he was making out with her a ton. Plus, she was making out with this other guy too.
Then she and a group of high school juniors and seniors go to Vegas (on a whim!) with fake IDs and she and her best friend, who have been dating all of one week, decide to get married while they're completely drunk. When they come home, they tell their parents, who completely flip out to the point of fist fighting and refusing to let them be married. So they leave.
Then there's this whole newly married thing, including looking for apartments and painting the walls and such. Through it all the other make-out guy from the beginning turns out to be a crazy stalker dude. Boyfriend gets injured, and the last bunch of the book is the drama of whether he's going to pull through.
Not to mention (yes, I know I'm actually mentioning it), the fact that people in her book never 'say' anything, they 'chirp' it. It gets really annoying. Also, the author knows nothing about American football. Like, at all. Even though best friend turned hubby is supposedly a running back and it comes up A LOT. Plus, the writing in general is just lacking. She repeats herself regularly, as in she says something in one paragraph and then says the same thing in a little bit different way in the very next paragraph. There are regular typos. Some of the phrasing is just odd. And really, I was just wondering what the book was supposed to be about most of the time.
I think this book just wanted to be too many things. Plus, there were a whole crap ton of things that were just plain unbelievable. I was kicked out of the story so many times it was a miracle I finished it. I hate to give one star reviews, but, ugh...
